Who Influences Me As A Photographer

Many people have their influences, the people that inspired them to become something they do that they are passionate about. Whether it be a blogger, journalist, photographer, reviewer, movie/TV director, chef, actor, musician, dancer, model, or other, are credited to other people in the same field that they do. Many of you know I am a journalist/blogger, photographer, reviewer, entrepreneur, and web developer running an organization I own. But I will not talk about these today, which I may do at another time on different websites that I own, such as if I am talking about journalist/blogger/reviewer, then I will talk about my influences on JoshiesWorld.com. Today, I will talk about my photography and who influence me as a photographer.

You know my main passion is journalism, as I have been working as a journalist/blogger since August 7, 2007, when I launched JoshiesWorld.com. But there is another thing that I am also very passionate about, and that is capturing the moments through the lens way longer than that. Since I was little, I always have had a photographic eye and looked at many things in a frame. I was fascinated by how a camera works, especially when it snapped a picture. I had a very old Polaroid camera, then moved to a point-and-shoot camera that used a floppy disk, then upgraded to a point-and-shoot camera that takes picture film, and then upgraded to another with a memory card. Then I finally started moving in a more serious direction by upgrading to a DSLR camera, and now I am using a professional mirrorless camera body. My path to becoming a photographer seriously was on March 18, 2013, because that was when I built and launched my photography business Joshie’s Photography!

I am now talking about a time that influenced me as a photographer. I want to give a few credits to a few photographers that inspired me to become one, and not only that, their style in photography also influenced me a bit, although I have my style. Every photographer has their style, and I have mine. When I mention their names, they are in no particular order because, in my eyes, all of them are equal.

Now let’s start with photographers that influenced me. Peter McKinnon. Oh gosh, his photography work is so good, especially landscape photography, lifestyle, and some action photography. His style is easily detected, primarily dark, moody, and matte. He owns a YouTube channel where he gets to talk about his photography work, as well as his work filmography. Peter McKinnon is one of the most popular photographers, and not only that also one of the most popular YouTubers. My love for landscape comes from him, although I am not close to as good as he is with the landscape, and besides, I don’t travel as he does, so I don’t get a lot of opportunities to do a lot of landscape photography as I would like to. I am screenshotting some examples of his work (I tried to embed them, but it wouldn’t) from his Instagram. I highly recommend that you follow him if you have an Instagram! I will start with a picture of Peter McKinnon and then a couple of his works.

Another photographer that has influenced me is Peter Coulson. Peter Coulson is one of the most well-known photographers worldwide; his niche is mostly in fine art nude in black and white pictures. I love his style in photography; besides Peter McKinnon, I believe Peter Coulson is one of the most creative photographers I have come across. Peter Coulson also has a YouTube channel where he produces videos about photography, giving tips/advice and BTS (behind-the-scenes) videos. If you start as a photographer and are interested in learning how to become a photographer in fine art nude, then you should subscribe to him on YouTube. I will provide the link along with the other links below for you to subscribe to his channel on YouTube.

The next photographer that has influenced me is Matt Granger, one of the most well-known photographers internationally, especially in boudoir, portrait, and fine art nude. Not only that, but he is also one of the well-known photographers on YouTube, and he gives many tips along with the BTS (background the scenes) photoshoots. He also did videos giving his opinions/feedback on photography gear, such as cameras, accessories, and more. I have followed Matt Granger the longest of all other photographers on YouTube, so he influenced me majorly.

Another one is JC Vagabond. He has done a great job at photographing models sensually but with creativity in mind. His genre is between fine art nude, swimsuit/lingerie, and boudoir, but he does it creatively. Not only does he do it with a creative mind, but he is also unique in his image of what art isโ€”combining his photography work as creative and art while doing fine art nude, swimsuit/lingerie, and boudoir. He could never run out of being creative when taking fine art nude, swimsuit/lingerie, and boudoir. Not only doing it professionally strictly but doing it in a fun way which I believe is what makes JC Vagabond stands out as a photographer.

Last but not least, Brett Seeley. He is also one of the well-known photographers on YouTube; I know it seems like there are a lot of well-known photographers on YouTube, but there are, which makes it easier to discover them, as I did with Brett Seeley. Brett Seeley is known for fitness photography, capturing pictures of anyone who is fitness or athletic, especially women in their swimsuits, gym suits, and nude. He is unbelievably amazing at photography in that niche, although he mainly focuses on anyone who is fit or has an athletic body. One of my niches is swimsuit/lingerie, except that I don’t only go for fitness. Still, his way of capturing them is terrific, Not just amazing with a camera, but also incredible at working with the lighting.

There are a few more photographers that I haven’t listed, such as Lizzie Peirce, Joel Meyerowitz, Michael Sasser, and Manny Ortiz, but above are the main ones that have influenced me as a photographer.

Do you have a favorite photographer? Please leave a comment below to let me know who and why?! If you happen to be a photographer, I would love to hear what inspired you or who influenced you to be a photographer. What would I like to do as a photographer? I would love to be a traveling photographer where I can capture some pictures in some areas that people like me never get to see with our own eyes, but I cannot do that for two reasons. Me being in a wheelchair, and I cannot afford to. Before I even think about traveling as a photographer, I would need thousands of dollars to upgrade my gear so I can be a bit better as a photographer, then need some funding for other gear, such as a tripod, because the one I own is over a decade old. I only have 3/4 of the lenses I need as the only remaining lens I do not have is 14-24mm. Then I would complete what a photographer calls the “holy trinity” although all of the lenses I have still get the job done except that I am missing the 14-24mm lens. I need a few of these things and some funding for renting a vehicle, renting a hotel room in different places, and more. So, I doubt I will ever be able to do what I’d like as a photographer unless I win some lottery. But I am also satisfied to continue being a local photographer in my area, although it is rural, and being in rural, it’s challenging as a photographer.

But that’s enough about me because this is about the photographers that influenced me. However, I will write another blog post that is more focused on me being a photographer and my disabilities as a photographer, so keep an eye out for that!
